ABOUT FAIRFAXFORWARD
FairfaxForward is dedicated to shaping a more sustainable, connected, and vibrant Fairfax County by advocating for smart urban planning and reduced car dependency.
We believe that a safer, more walkable community benefits everyone—enhancing local businesses, improving quality of life, and fostering stronger neighborhoods. Our mission is to push for better zoning policies, expanded public transit, and infrastructure that prioritizes pedestrians and cyclists over endless highway expansions.
Through community-driven discussions, policy insights, and active engagement with local decision-makers, we aim to transform Fairfax into a place where people can live, work, and thrive without being forced to rely on cars for every trip.
THE STORY BEHIND FAIRFAXFORWARD
FairfaxForward was initially a TikTok account under the name DMV Alliance for Transit (DMVAT), founded by Hasan Dar. Soon after, a group of high school students at Langley came up with the idea to materialize FairfaxForward into an organization, over which the TikTok account served as the driving force. At Langley High School, the club under the same name serves to gather and assemble high school students, whilst inviting local elected officials.
They decided to launch FairfaxForward to create an organized voice for transit and infrastructure in Fairfax County.
