The president of FairfaxForward, Hasan Dar, was initially dumbfounded by the lack of infrastructure in Fairfax County, especially after traveling to nations like Canada, the UK, Germany, Austria, etc, where infrastructure feels much more hospitable to people, not cars. Living in Vienna, VA, my town shares a name with a walkable city but unfortunately does not share the pedestrian-friendly infrastructure that Vienna Austria does. Having founded a TikTok account that is considered the predecessor to FairfaxForward, Hasan believes that the fight for a walkable and affordable Fairfax lays within the mobilization and organization of YIMBYs and residents alike.
